What to Expect From Your Wedding Photography with Plymouth Photo Lounge

Choosing your wedding photographer is about more than just finding someone whose photos you like.

You’re also choosing someone who will be around you for a big part of your wedding day, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with them too.

That’s where Plymouth Photo Lounge comes in.

I’m Jess, the photographer behind Plymouth Photo Lounge, a Plymouth-based wedding photography business covering weddings across Devon, Cornwall and the surrounding areas. My approach is relaxed, natural and unobtrusive, with a focus on capturing the real moments that make your wedding yours.

A relaxed approach from start to finish

I don’t want your wedding day to feel like one long photoshoot. Of course, there will be moments where I’ll guide you and take some beautiful portraits, but I also want you to spend your day actually enjoying it and spending time with your guests.

There’s no need to spend hours away from your guests or feel like you constantly need to pose for the camera. Instead, I like to blend into the day, keep things relaxed and photograph what naturally happens around me, such as the laughs, the hugs, the happy tears and everything in between.

My aim is to be there when you need me, without feeling like I’m constantly in your face.

You don't need to be comfortable in front of the camera

And honestly, most people aren't, including myself! If the thought of having loads of photos taken makes you feel a little awkward, you definitely aren't alone. ’m not expecting you to suddenly become professional models on your wedding day. I’ll give you a little direction when you need it, but I’m much more interested in capturing you and your partner as you actually are.

That might mean walking together, having a chat, laughing at something completely unrelated to the photos or simply enjoying a quiet moment together. The best photographs often happen when you forget the camera is there.

Your wedding photos should feel like your wedding

Every couple and every wedding is different. Whether you're planning a small intimate ceremony, a relaxed celebration with all your favourite people, a big party or something completely your own, I want your photography to reflect that.

I love the moments that aren't necessarily planned, the reaction when you see each other for the first time, your friends laughing during the speeches, grandparents dancing, a quiet moment together after the ceremony or everyone letting loose on the dance floor.

Those are the photographs that help tell the story of the day. Alongside those candid moments, I'll also make sure we capture the important photographs you'll want to have forever, family groups, couple portraits, wedding party photos and all those little details you've spent months planning.

What happens when you book?

I want the whole experience to feel straightforward and personal. We'll have a chat about your wedding, what you're planning and what you're looking for from your photography. You can ask as many questions as you like and get a feel for whether I'm the right photographer for you.

Once you have paid a deposit and booked in your day, I'll be there to help with any photography-related questions and make sure we have a plan for the day. Then, when the wedding finally arrives, my job is simple:

Help you feel comfortable, photograph the moments as they happen and let you get on with enjoying your day.

Let's chat about your upcoming wedding!

You don't need to have everything figured out yet, just a date and a venue and we can go from there!
